Bridgework engineering

Salzburg, Rudolf Biebel Strasse – Bicycle Crossover Bridge

Project Description:
North of the existing railway bridge across the Rudolf-Biebl-Straße a pedestrian and bike crossing bridge will be built. This bridge will close the current gap in the bicycle trail network alongside the railroad tracks between Gaswerkgasse und Guggenmoosstraße and it will also enable pedestrians to safely cross the intersection of Rudolf-Biebl-Straße without having to make a detour over the light-rail stop ramps.

In collaboration with Fally + Partner Architekten ZT GmbH, the bridge has been designed as a 1-field span steel composite bridge which is constructed with bridge bearings on top of reinforced concrete abutments. This abutment and the initial support structure were created by repurposing components and materials of the existing light-rail stop Salzburg-Aiglhof, so the bridge will seamlessly integrate in the railway crossover bridge without competing with aforementioned.

The bridge as such crosses a busy inner-city road, as well as the O-bus line (overhead line with a similar degree of difficulty as the railway tracks).

Sava-Bridge South Approach Roads, Belgrad

Project Description:
A bypass of the Belgrad downtown area is implemented within the scope of expanding the highly popular street network. This bypass is a primary city road (ICSRR= Inner City Semi Ring Road) on the west-end of the city, which is connected to the local street network via an interchange.

The current SAR (South Approach Roads) project includes the CSRR (City Semi Ring Road), which is similar to an expressway (2x2 lanes, 3.50m each), between the newly constructed Adabrücke across the Sava and the Hipodrom interchange, which is currently in construction phase 1c, the new construction of the primary roads Radnicka and Bulevar Vojvode Misica (3 to 4 lanes between 3.0m and 3.50). in the Radnicka interchange area, as well as construction of the entire Radnicka interchange. In an effort to accommodate all related traffic despite the tight conditions, the traffic flow is redirected by a traffic circle (Radius=40m) with 2 to 3 elevated traffic-lanes. The circular traffic is situated at an appropriate height so the existing railway- and tramway tracks located beneath are not affected and the ICSRR (Inner City Semi Ring Road), including a tramway track, can pass above.

Competition Rhein Bridge, L 202 Schweizer Straße, Hard - Fußach

Project Description:
The existing deck bridge will be replaced by a newly constructed bridge with an unmistakable appearance. The extensive framework conditions, such as the depressed construction height for road connections and bicycle traffic, river engineering and flood-related conditions in accordance with the international Rhine-River Regulatory Act, extremely difficult soil conditions, as well as the strict adherence to a budget and high quality goals was accomplished with the elected bridge concept. The asymmetric cable-stayed bridge with a support span length = 39.5 + 135 + 43 + 39.5 = 257 m features a hybrid support structure with composite-peloton and pre-stressed concrete end-panels in hollow and/or full panel cross-sections. The backcourts form an integral bridge. The great width of the bridge at 19.4 m posed a challenge to the pylon form-finding. The high-level design requirement of flowing and dynamic shapes was achieved while adhering to economically feasible construction methods.
